If you’ve followed my work for any amount of time I’m guessing this lovely face is familiar. But what you may never have seen before is her current silhouette, slightly rounder than normal but in the best kind of way! Of course Alexis would be one of the loveliest pregnant women on the planet. I was thrilled when she asked if I would photograph a timeless maternity session for her. I wanted to share just a few of my favorites from her session plus the images she actually purchased that will now hang as fine art in her home. I created the above painting for her as an option and it takes the cake for my favorite from the session, but I also love the shot below and how you can see the dew/fog that joined us for this session.
I also loved this next image and painted it as well, but in the end decided the painting took away too much perfectly placed detail from the branches behind.
Alexis brought her husband to her ordering session. I loved hearing both of their perspectives on which pictures to bring home. Alexis opted to print the below light and airy image as her main statement piece in the nursery. Geoff’s favorite was basically the exact same image, but with an entirely different exposure. Isn’t it amazing how we can recognize those we love most just by a profile without any more detail needed.
When I started to edit this shot I immediately envisioned it in black & white with a classic museum presentation.
It seems almost humorous to photograph a mom-to-be in such a serene sleeping pose as seen below. I love it but know tonight could literally be the last night in a while that Alexis gets to enjoy such effortless sleep. However, I know she is ready and up to the task at hand that is the constant demands and pure joy of snuggling a newborn. I’m so excited for this couple to become a family of three!
I’m also SO excited for my own sister Laura and her husband Ryan to become parents any day now. Laura opted out of a maternity session so I can’t show you her cute bump but I will be showing you the session I did do for her to decorate her new home…but it’s not at all what you’ll guess (unless of course you’re my friend on facebook in which case I’ve already ruined that surprise). Let’s just say it does have a little to do with being fruitful
