This is the last wedding on my 2015 books (though it doesn’t have to be all you last minute November & December brides…) and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ending. I love, love fall colors and this wedding was my happy place in that regard. Not to mention, Jenn hired some of my all time favorite vendors to work with, so really in so many aspects it was 100% my cup of tea. Blossom Sweet provided the incredible florals. Flavia of Versa Artistry dolled Jenn up. Quiet Meadow Farms provided a stunning backdrop and barn for the cowboys in attendance. And the cakes done by Sam Keele, particuarly the groom’s cake, left me in awe. The attention to detail on these sugar canvases was AMAZING. Jenn’s dad built the backdrop they were married in front of, which then doubled as their guest sign-in book. One of my favorite parts of the celebration was the secret truck decorating that went on. I know Justin wasn’t too thrilled about seeing his truck decked out in balloons and cookie halves, but he took it in good stride Jenn danced first with her day, then her groom, and THEN her two sons. Real moments full of energy and love are exactly why I love photographing weddings. Of course all the details are fun to get artsy with, but I know it’s really the story I tell that matters most.
I’m excited to see the images Jenn selects for her album. This year most of my brides invested in an album. And next year all of them will get to! I’m finally to the point in my career where I can see that providing finished products, particularly albums, is something I have to put my foot down on. As a society, we’ve spent the last decade enjoying digital images, but now I wonder how many of those still exist in the real world. How many incredible images have never been printed, left on a disk or hard drive to one day become extinct, never fully enjoyed. I’m working on a new product line up for 2016 and will have a whole new booking system that will ensure my couples get to enjoy tangible, real life products featuring the custom art I create for them. I’m even dabbling in digital painting which I’ve shared a bit on facebook, but will definitely be blogging in the future. I just finished a painting of my husband and I for our bedroom and I LOVE how it turned out. I’m starting to see the fine art potential of the images I take in a whole new way and I can’t wait to implement the changes. SO consider yourself happily forwarned. Yes, I will still be providing clients with digital files because they do serve a purpose, but that will no longer be the ONLY thing you walk away with from your wedding and I promise this isn’t a punishment but a blessing! Can’t wait to share the changes soon…
